My review of `Word on the Street' by Briana Ford`Word on the street' is a YA novella by Briana Ford.
It follows out protagonist Sandra, focusing on the ups and downs of her life, particularly her home and school life. Ford brings close attention to a side of culture and society in America that not many books look at, and tells it from the perspective of a fifteen year old girl.
Briana tells a story that many teenage girls can relate to; bullying at school, feeling unnoticed and craving popularity. She lets us into the mind of her character and expresses her thoughts brilliantly.
It ends slightly violently, with Sandra resorting to crime to solve her problems.
It could do with some slight editing and maybe some writing changes, but all in all not a bad storyline- perfect for a leisurely read.
